Glee: Home

Sorry for the lack of updates recently, not been too well! Hopefully everything will start appearing back on the blog again soon, but for now I’m drinking lots of Lucozade and Lemsip. To attempt to make up for it, here’s a clip from Monday night’s Glee, with Sue back to her worst (or best?):

Glee: Hell-o

Glee returns to E4 tomorrow after a few weeks off to catch up with the broadcasts in the United States. I’ve just watched the new episode and written a little something about it. Not here, though. You’ll have to click over to the lovely new Frost Magazine site to read it. Go on, it’s a better website than this one.

Glee on DVD

A few quick notes about the excellent Glee, Ryan Murphy’s musical comedy-drama on E4. First of all, the first part of season one will be released on DVD next Monday, 12 April.

Also, on the same day, Lucky Voice are launching a special Glee package at their Brighton, Islington and Soho bars. You get two hours in the booth to sing along with all your favourite songs from the show, plus a box full of wigs, Artie-style glasses and Cheerio pom-poms, plus there’s vanilla vodka & coke slurpees to make the authentic experience complete. I gave it a try last night, and it was a huge amount of fun, everyone there had a brilliant time. If singing’s not your thing, it’s seriously worth going just for the slurpees. And they’ll get you singing, anyway.

Finally, the show is currently on a little break on E4 while waiting for the show to get back from it’s mid-season break in the US. Don’t worry Gleeks, there’s not long to wait, as season one continues on April 19th. So, it won’t be long before we’re back on board the Sue Sylvester Express. Having seen the track list for the next episode (with all the songs having either “hello” or “hell” in the title), it looks worth waiting for.

Last week I was lucky enough to be invited along to E4’s Autumn season launch at an undisclosed top secret London location (the pub). I was slightly baffled as to why they wanted me to come, but excited by the idea of getting a sneaky peek at upcoming shows and rubbing shoulders with people from tellyland.

Now, you might imagine that being in a room full of journalists and PR folk might be a little daunting to an outsider like myself, but fortunately there was a free bar. That helped, a lot, as did the fact that Steve and Nikki from E4 were really nice and welcoming and I met a whole load of friendly, great people, including the awesome Catherine & Gen (we did indeed party hard!) and contrary to the general stereotype of the press, lots of newspaper and magazine journos who were absolutely lovely.

Anyway, you really don’t want to know about all that, you want to know about shows themselves. Read on… Continue reading
